My research aims at understanding high-level visual abilities and numerical cognition from the point of view of the format of representations extracted at different levels of the cortical hierarchy in the human brain. To that end, I am combining advanced neuroimaging methods (ultra-high-field fMRI and multivariate pattern analyses) with psychophysical testing and computational approaches.
In addition to studying normal subjects, I am interested in how impairments in numerical cognition (such as developmental dyscalculia) might be associated with, and potentially grounded in, more general sensory-perceptual impairments.
